The Weekly Tone

We're taught that success comes from countless hours, days, and years sacrificed on the altar of productivity. We're told to hustle, to grind, to push until we reach our lofty goals.

But today, I want to challenge this notion and pose an important question: What if the grind is merely masking a lack of genuine interest?

If your work feels like a constant uphill battle against time, tasks, and targets, you might be grinding in an area that doesn't truly fascinate or inspire you.

Picture yourself working late into the night on a project; if it's something you're truly passionate about, those hours won't feel like a sacrifice. They'll fly by in what seems like minutes - a testament to your engagement and your willingness to explore further. The fruits of your labor are something you’re proud of. Something you don’t care about? You’re glad to just get it over with.

The thing about passion is that it doesn't require much force.

It pulls you in naturally, inviting your thoughts, ideas, and creativity. It's still challenging and demanding, but it's also exciting and stimulating in ways that make every effort feel worthwhile.

Grinding at something you're uninterested in will never provide this feeling - it will only create an illusion of productivity while gradually draining your energy.

I urge you today to take a moment to reflect on your grind. Ask yourself if you are truly engaged with what you're doing or merely going through the motions because that’s what you’re supposed to do? Are you actually interested in what you’re working on or are you just trying hard to convince yourself that all this grinding will someday make sense?

When passion fuels your efforts, success becomes so much more than just reaching a goal - it becomes a fulfilling journey that enriches every aspect of your life.

Remember: Don't grind for the sake of grinding; engage because your passion compels you too!

This week, I'm taking meetings in Chicago, IL.
