This weekend was my birthday - thank you all for making this the best year yet. Now back to the show…

This year I’m trying to be more “me” than ever. And it’s paying dividends.

We put on masks, presenting versions of ourselves that we believe will be accepted and celebrated. It backfires—trust me.

In this quest for success, we often overlook one fundamental truth – the luxury of being yourself.

When we deny ourselves the freedom to be authentic, we hold ourselves back. We limit our potential and stifle our creativity. We conform to the standards and expectations set by others, neglecting our own unique voices and perspectives.

We become mere imitations of what we believe success should look like, instead of embracing what makes us truly special.

But what if I told you that true success lies in embracing your individuality? That the key to unlocking your greatest potential is found in being true to yourself? It may sound counterintuitive in a world that values conformity, but it is a lesson many successful individuals have learned.

Think of some of the most celebrated figures in history – from innovative entrepreneurs like Steve Jobs to legendary artists like Frida Kahlo. These individuals stood out because they dared to be themselves. They embraced their quirks, their passions, and their unique perspectives. In doing so, they not only achieved great success but also left a lasting impact on the world.

So how can we allow ourselves the luxury of being ourselves in a society that often frowns upon it? It starts with self-acceptance. Embrace your strengths, your flaws, and everything in between. Understand that your individuality is what sets you apart and makes you valuable. Celebrate your differences instead of hiding them.

Bring it on.

Next, surround yourself with people who support and encourage your true self. Seek out relationships that nourish and uplift you, rather than drain and diminish you. Build a community of like-minded individuals who appreciate you for who you are. Remember, success is not achieved in isolation – it is a collective effort.

Lastly, give yourself permission to pursue your passions and interests. Allow yourself the time and space to explore the things that bring you joy. It may be a hobby, a side project, or even a career change. When you align your actions with your authentic self, you will find a sense of fulfillment and purpose that cannot be achieved through mere conformity.

In the end, the luxury of being yourself is not a selfish indulgence.

It is the key to unlocking your true potential and finding success on your own terms. It is a gift that you have the power to give yourself. So, let go of the masks, embrace your uniqueness, and step boldly into a world that values and celebrates the one-of-a-kind individual that is you.

This week, I'm taking meetings in Chicago, IL.
