The Weekly Tone

This weekend I drove to Jupiter, Florida.

Congratulations guy, you might be thinking sarcastically to yourself.

Well, for some reason, I believed it to be paradise on earth. Even the name was exotic—Jupiter! Ahhh… It’s from freaking outer space.

And then I pulled into town.

My real-life impression? It was, well, a pleasant suburb for families, but not the land of milk and honey of my dreams. Certainly not for a rambunctious entrepreneur like myself.

I'm guilty of making these kinds of declarations all the time - I swore I'd never make skits, do a podcast, or be one of “those guys” online.

But here we are, folks.

Putting my mustache (or mustache fade, as I’ve been accused) online has changed my life in ways I couldn’t imagine. I can’t imagine NOT doing it now.

It turns out that if you give anything a shot with an open mind and a willingness to learn, it can open up new opportunities and experiences you never expected.

Now I do the strangest things whenever I have a preconceived notion.

So I ask: Do you really hate broccoli?

What does this have to do with making money?

If you haven’t tried it yet, you have no clue if you’ll be any good at it. No matter what Mom and Dad told you when you were a kid.

If you choose the wrong stuff (probably based on incorrect preconceived notions), like I did with Wall Street (from Hollywood movies) or building a digital agency (from friends) that had me working around-the-clock putting out proverbial fires, you’ll lose your mind if you stick around too long.

Here are a few tips on trying the proverbial broccoli:

  • Identify your skills and talents: This is the first step towards creating more income - taking inventory. For instance, if you're good with web design, you could offer freelance services such as creating websites or redesigning existing ones for clients.

  • Explore different options: Once you've identified your skills and talents, see what opportunities are out there for utilizing them in different ways in order to generate multiple sources of income. Actually try the dang thing for a few weeks before deciding on a direction.

  • Don't limit yourself: Look at all the possibilities and be open to trying something new if it intrigues you. You can change your mind as much as you’d like. You don’t lose points for flip-flopping.

  • Step on the gas: Once you have identified potential opportunities for diversifying your sources of income, take action and start working on them right away.

The world is full of possibilities - don't limit yourself by assuming things without ever giving them a fair shot.

I don’t care if you love it or hate it, you’ll need to try the broccoli to find out yourself.

This week, I'm taking meetings in Miami, Fl.

This Week On The Really Rich Podcast

In episode 22 of The Really Rich Podcast with Nicholas Crown, I sit down with Founder, CEO, Investor, YC Alum and ultra-high-net worth service provider; Rey Flemings, of Myria. That path has led him to Myria, a company designed to serve clients with $100M or more at scale.

Rey is the go-to guy when it comes to villas on the beach, private hangs with the famous, and buying what isn’t for sale. Rey takes a consultative role, guiding these UHNWI to receive what cannot be purchased with money alone.
