The Weekly Tone

Yesterday, I posted a video of my Sunday ritual. Really, this was to serve as light entertainment and inspiration; not a blueprint. I don't suggest you copy it.

That's because you should have your own Sunday ritual, not mine, or any other influencer down the block. Whether that's crushing beer cans on your head (remind me to tell you this story about a guy I knew on the trading floor) or tinkering with your masterpiece symphony, find something you love that moves you forward or rewards you for a week well done.

But, by all means, choose something! It's tempting to grab another's template when you simply don't know.

Just actively planning your time is entrepreneurial.

And there's a reason why so many of us are drawn to the idea of being an entrepreneur. It's the promise of freedom and the ability to paint our own way.

Getting something off the ground is painful. There are a lot of decisions to make, tasks to complete, and obstacles to overcome. It can be overwhelming and often times we find ourselves feeling stuck or unsure of how to move forward.

In panic, we tend to imitate. Rather than to look inward.

That's why it's important to remember that you don't have to do things the same way as everyone else. You don't have to follow the same path or use the same tools as other entrepreneurs. You can choose your own way and create something that is uniquely yours.

All the successful entrepreneurs (and I'll talk to well over fifty of them this year for my Podcast) certainly do. That can't be an accident.

So, take a step back and think about what you want your business (and life!) to look like and how you want it to operate. What do you want to achieve? What do you need in order to get there? What processes do you need to put in place? What tools do you need?

Take some time to think about these questions and then create a plan for how you're going to get there. This will help ensure that you stay on track and don't get overwhelmed by all the decisions that need to be made in realtime.

You can paint your own way.

This week, I'm taking meetings in Miami, Fl.
